Medicinal Use:

Digestive diseases

Acid reflux / indigestion / Peptic Ulcer / colitis / colic / flatulence

Anxiety

Depression

Stress

Grief

Grave’s disease

Mild Insomnia

Thyroid problems / Hyperthyroidism

Anemia

Amnesia / Alzheimer’s / ADHD / hysteria / melancholy

Menstrual cramps

Contraindications:

Pregnancy or lactating

Warning:

Use a low dose with Valerian for children with ADHD and exam stress

Has been used safely for 4 months.  Unsure of long-term use

Use low doses and short-term use

Children – use for up to a month (or only during stressful times)

Signs of excess dosage:

Increased appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, wheezing

Stop use 2 weeks prior to and after surgery

Interactions:

Diabetic meds – monitor levels closely and adjust medication accordingly

Thyroid hormone replacement therapy

Alcohol

Sedative medications – will cause drowsiness

HIV medication
